PODCAST HOST DUO CHEMISTRY
Chemistry and Performance Building, Production, Interviewing, Scripting, Series Consultation

The need for wheelchair accessibility into buildings, parks, and residences is underrepresented and underfunded. After having an accident that ended his professional skiing career and left him paraplegic, filmmaker Riley and his partner Andrea became active in helping to create awareness around public and private accessibility. I was lucky enough to be brought in to help this wildly dynamic pair find their hosting chemistry and on air voice, create their story, improve their interviewing skills, consult on series creation, and how to schedule guests for their podcast centering around where and how people with limited mobility can find ways to access traveling in nature.

After the hosts reached a place of relaxation, through improvisation and storytelling exercises they were able to sharpen their listening skills and improve their chemistry with each other. It’s not always easy removing roadblocks to create collaborative ease – especially when you are a married couple — but it’s always a joy to witness people finding new inroads to collaboration. Through this process we set the stage for finding their interview style, including how to make guests comfortable to encourage the best answers and stories.

They had one interview in the bank, so we were able to walk through editing their subject and themselves. Then I helped write the script, showing them how to add narration, pauses, and music in post for clarification, story arc, and listenability. I also created a best practices guide for them and other templates for guest reach-out and pre and post interview.
